The main object for which the Body is established is to improve the care, comfort and quality of life of the residents of Birr Community Nursing Unit (BCNU) and people attending BCNU daycare service by providing funding for equipment, services, complimentary therapies and entertainment for them.
The charity is funded by 2 main annual fund raising events

  • Stroll and roll
  • Sale of work and Christmas raffle
The charity is also funded by private donations and fundraisers
We are currently fundraising to develop a multi sensory garden for the Daycare users in the Unit.

Mark Mc Dowall, from Hoctor & Smith, has designed a beautiful garden that will not only benefit the Daycare users, but the residents as well. It is proving to be an expensive project but will be worth it in the end. Prices estimates for the work involved range from €32,000-€58,000.

We currently have 100 clients attending Daycare from Birr and the surrounding areas. A garden would be a therapeutic and complementary addition to the service we provide. We would be grateful if you could consider making a donation to help us achieve our aim of creating the sensory garden for the residents. If you require any information please contact any of the staff members or by email friendsofbirrcnu@gmail.com
